Art and history
Nicknamed the Venice of the Alps, Annecy is captivating with its old canals and charming stone houses with their archways and coloured facades. Annecy has always fascinated men since the foundation of the Gallo-Roman town of Boutae until today. It was especially in the XVIIth century that Saint François de Sales and Jean-Jacques Rousseau made their mark of the history of their town. Discover the sumptuous historical chateaux of Annecy, Duingt, Menthon-Saint-Bernard, Faverges, Thorens and Montrottier. Annecy also has a concentration of traditional crafts such as the making of the famous Paccard Bells. Art is also an important feature, in particular Claudine and Jean-Marc Salomon's Foundation of Contemporary Art. |
